Dr. Ferreira was raised on a dairy farm in California, and was active in 4-H and FFA. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Cal Poly in Dairy Science, and went on to teach in the Dairy Vocational Program and work as the Dairy Herd Manager while he earned his Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology at Utah State University.
Dr. Ferreira has been a professor in the Dairy Science Department at Cal Poly for over 25 years, and is a recognised expert in dairy herd management, cow comfort, dairy safety, dairy cattle judging, reproductive physiology and artificial insemination. He has coordinated numerous International Dairy Seminars, and has consulted to the industry in over 20 countries.
